Zero Tolerance Policy

Ragging is a Punishable Offense

UGIP maintains a complete zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form. Strict disciplinary action including suspension, expulsion, and legal proceedings will be taken against offenders. The institute strictly follows AICTE, UBTER, and Government of India guidelines.

What Constitutes Ragging?

As per UGC/AICTE regulations, ragging includes any act which causes physical or psychological harm to any student:

  • Teasing, embarrassing, or humiliating any student.
  • Forcing a student to do any act that causes shame or discomfort.
  • Verbal abuse, threats, or intimidation of any kind.
  • Any form of physical assault or harassment.
  • Psychological harm, mental torture, or academic disruption.

Punishment for Ragging

Punishment varies based on the nature and severity of the incident, and may include:

  • Immediate cancellation of admission.
  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withholding results, scholarships, and certificates.
  • Debarring from examinations and campus placements.
  • Filing of an FIR and initiating criminal proceedings with local police.
